Client acceptance
Who we work with, and who we decline.
We form US companies for people we have never met, in countries we have never visited. That only works if we are careful about it, so here is exactly how we decide.
- —We verify the identity of every client and every beneficial owner before we file anything.
- —We ask what the company will actually do, and we need a real answer. Vague answers are the most common reason we decline someone.
- —We screen every client and beneficial owner against the sanctions lists maintained by the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom, at the start and again every year.
- —We do not act for designated persons or entities, or for anyone owned or controlled by them.
- —We keep records of all of this.
If that costs us business, it is the right kind of business to lose. It also means that when we do take a client, the bank on the other end of the application is dealing with a file that has already been checked.
